In Corporate Compliance, she performed internal audits and training, due diligence, continued to assist in cash flow improvements, and other matters as directed. She worked with RoTech for over 6 years. Mrs. Miller-Leathers later went to Home Care Supply nka Apria to be their Corporate Compliance Officer for 5 years. She led the Compliance Department with support from the Executive Team. She was responsible for the Compliance Program Development, all Training development, working closely with all billing locations to address any questions they had. She also helped to improve cash flow, managed the compliance hotline, perform voluntary refunds, and internal as well as external “investigations/audits.” Mrs. Miller-Leathers started Medical Auditing Solutions when Home Care Supply sold. Angela’s Experience
Mrs. Miller-Leathers has over 25 years in healthcare medical and dental billing, coding, and compliance space for various types of providers. She is a Medical and Dental Billing Coding Expert. She has testified in federal criminal and state civil cases, arbitrations in Texas and Medicare ALJ’s in various states. She was a compliance officer for many years and has been through FBI, OIG, DOJ, plus many payer audits. She created a nitch working on provider audits and criminal/civil defense investigations related to billing, coding, documentation, and financial relationship concerns.
Defending audits and investigations is her favorite because she understands the complexity of finding rules and the contradiction of the rules and state laws to help providers navigate the practice and ensure all tie together for good processes within the business. She understands the billing process and enjoys helping providers be more efficient by making full use of their billing software so employee time can be used for other office functions. She can talk about compliance and billing all day. She is very passionate about structuring healthcare dental practice so the providers do not worry. She loves what she and her team do to help healthcare dental providers during a crisis as well as the friendships developed.
Mrs. Miller-Leathers has developed, implemented, and managed compliance programs. She believes the key to a successful compliance program is “Trust & Action.” If employees don’t trust the compliance officer and the company does nothing when there are problems, the program will never be successful no matter how much money is spent.
Mrs. Miller-Leathers also performs dental company due diligence to ensure the data is accurate, has minimal risk, and a smooth transition for the buyer and seller.
